Original Playwright - Oscar Wilde. CONSTANCE was unearthed by Wilde enthusiast and writer, Charles Osborne, many years later. Osborne has translated the play back into English, recreating for the world a genuine, brand new, Oscar Wilde play. After his release from prison in 1897, Oscar Wilde immediately began writing a new play, CONSTANCE. Wilde sold what he claimed were exclusive rights to a number of theatrical agents, publishers, actors and managers, eventually handing over his handwritten manuscript to an American actress, Mrs Cora Brown Potter. On her death in the 1930s the manuscript passed onto the French writer Guillot de Saix, who with a colleague Henri de Briel, put together a French translation. Henri de Briel was suspected of being a collaborator with the Germans during World War II, and Wildes original English manuscript is thought to have been destroyed by members of the resistance movement when they caught up with him. However, a copy of the French translation survived in Guillot de Saixs possession, and in due course was published in a French literary magazine.

Synopsis:

William Daventry, a rich industrialist and self-made man, is married to Constance, the perfect wife: loyal, faithful, and with excellent family credentials. At the Daventrys country house, various members of Constances extended family, a zealous man of the cloth and his flirtatious wife are assembled for an evening of entertainment such as is affordable only by the middle classes, a fact deplored by the Duchess of Sandgate and her companion, Sir Richard. An incident between the Reverends wife and the industrialist sets in motion a train of events that risk upsetting the moral code of this aristocratic family, driving them from Twickenham to London to the Tyrolean Alps.

Little Hans's best friend is Hugh the Miller but while Hans is happy to share all the lovely flowers and fruit from his garden, Hugh isn't quite so generous with his own things. Join three lively characters as they explore the ups and downs of friendship in this new play for the very young. From the same artistic team that brought you The Selfish Giant and The Happy Prince, comes this third enchanting adaptation in the Oscar Wilde trilogy. Ordinary objects and materials will be transformed through music and puppetry, play and imagination to create a beautiful environment for a classic story.

Picture of Dorian Gray, The

Set in the decadent world of Victorian London, a beautiful young man called Dorian Gray becomes infatuated by the exquisite portrait that Basil Hallward has painted of him. He makes a Faustian pact that he will remain forever young while the picture grows old. Oscar Wilde's only novel caused an immediate scandal when it was first published in 1890 and its themes of youth and decay, innocence and corruption, art and reality are even more relevant to us in the 21st century than in the 19th. Adapted by Wilde's grandson Merlin Holland and John O'Connor, this delightfully witty version of Wilde's story incorporates material suppressed from the original manuscript.

Original Playwright - Oscar Wilde

Salome

The savage power of ancient myth collides with twentieth-century decadence in Oscar Wilde's astonishing tragedy. Salome, stepdaughter of King Herod, agrees to perform the mysterious and erotic Dance of the Seven Veils - but demands in return the head of the King's most infamous prisoner, Iokanaan (John the Baptist). To avoid censorship by the Lord Chamberlain, Wilde originally wrote Salome in French, and it premiered in Paris in 1896, while he was in prison. The play was finally seen in London in 1906, but has yet to gain the massive popularity of his comedies.
