        Hostage, The / An Giall

Hostage, The / An Giall

Synopsis:
Set in the 1950, the IRA ( not as we know them today) kidnap a 16 year old soldier and bring him to a whore house to keep him hostage. He falls in love with a young servant girl in the house and is accidentally killed when the police storm the house. Behan was writing in the 60's about the IRA which in the 50's which he saw as "terrorists after work or at weekends". This new translation is an exact translation of the original play and does not include many characters from the HOSTAGE - hence the title Hostage/An Giall, only the characters in An Giall are in this version. the songs Behan wrote for the Hostage were included.
