A look behind the scenes of a political campaign, CAMPAIGN STRATEGY is a five-character, 90-minute drama, focused on the personal conflicts among political professionals in a three-way Congressional race. ALYSSA, a professional media director, turns down a job on Sara Fielding's Democratic Congressional campaign to work for Tony Bridge, a left-wing Independent candidate. Her friends, BRENDA and ERIN, and her fiance, WYMAN, try to talk her out of it on grounds that the Independent will split the Democratic vote and hand the election to a conservative Republican. WYMAN declares that he is supporting Sara Fielding. When ALYSSA turns down the Fielding job, JEFFREY, the Fielding campaign manager, recruits BRENDA, ALYSSA'S close friend for media director. JEFFREY and BRENDA are lovers, but JEFFREY'S casual attitude about the relationship is an ongoing source of tension. WYMAN goes to the Fielding campaign kickoff, where he and BRENDA flirt. With ERIN'S encouragement, WYMAN and BRENDA start an affair. Before the campaign is over, Tony Bridge is assassinated by a religious zealot, Deeply discouraged about American politics and prejudices, ALYSSA prepares to leave the country, taking a job with Associated Press in London. Whether WYMAN can salvage his relationship with ALYSSA is uncertain.

Lovers and Other Furnishings

Synopsis:
On New Year's Day, furniture and furnishings are clustered in the back yard of a house on the California coast under four signs: MATTHEW, PAUL, MOSS, DEREK. At different times during the last twenty years, these men have lived here with JESSICA, a journalist in her early 40s. She has left messages on her former lovers' answering machines, asking them to retrieve the furniture and furnishings they left behind, a symbolic gesture celebrating her decision to abandon the search for love. Three of the men come to the house to find RICHARD but no JESSICA. RICHARD was JESSICA'S New Years Eve date, last night. He has not lived with her but would like to. MOSS doesn't want to retrieve his furniture. He wants Jessica back but won't admit it. MATTHEW doesn't want his belongings, either. He needs to expiate a guilty conscience. DEREK comes to get revenge. PAUL doesn't show up. Goading, ribbing and clashing with each other, the men use flashbacks in their lives with JESSICA to reveal points for and against her, inadvertently turning the camera lens on themselves to reveal some surprises. Jessica observing them from inside the cottage, makes an unexpected decision at the last minute.

Synopsis:
It is 1995 in San Francisco, the year that Jerry Garcia died and the 30th anniversary of The Grateful Dead. ANDY, one of the men in a two-couple household of sexagenarian Deadheads, has a major, paralyzing stroke. His partner, DORIANNE, decides that The Grateful Dead can jolt ANDY'S brain back to life. SAUL sets off to invite the DEAD to their house for a birthday party, but before he can do that, Jerry Garcia dies. ANDY goes to the nursing home. DORIANNE and KATE, SAUL'S partner, convince SAUL that ANDY is frustrated and enraged in the nursing home and wants them to let him die blissfully with an overdose of heroin. They sneak into the home in the dead of night and administer the fatal dose, having expertly covered their tracks. The police investigate and find no evidence against them. MICHAEL, a San Francisco Police Department detective, and closet Deadhead who met the group in the first scene, is convinced that they killed their friend. He tricks two of them into confessing, but they draw him into their Deadhead world where he faces the emotional skeletons in his closet and decides that the case is closed.

Whitson Country

Synopsis:
Ohio congressman, BRUCE WHITSON, is suspected of but never charged with having a hand in the disappearance of Washington, D.C. intern, Kyla Rhodes, with whom he was having an affair. Media reaction threatens BRUCE'S re-election and his son GORDON'S campaign for the Ohio House of representatives. When GORDON meets LISA, Kyla's sister, they disagree on whether BRUCE is guilty or innocent, but they are attracted to each other. LISA suspects that Kyla was pregnant and threatened to blackmail BRUCE by demanding that he divorce his wife and marry her, or she would publicize their relationship. This suspicion is nourished when BRUCE offers public support for a corrupt fellow congressman, Joe Sorrent. As Joe Sorrent has Mafia connections, GORDON and LISA decide that BRUCE has conspired with Joe in a quid pro quo to have Kyla murdered. This theory is foiled few days later, when Frank Taba, already on death row for killing a policeman, confesses to killing Kyla. But Frank Taba did not kill Kyla. The truth is revealed in the last scene of the play when BRUCE'S wife, MEGAN, gets BRUCE to admit what he did and offers to keep his secret and help him to win re-election.

Zing Zang

Synopsis:
ELI, a shoe-store owner, and SAM, a shoe repair store owner, are close friends in a small town in Ohio. One day, ELI'S flirtatious wife, MYRA, comes into SAM'S shop to have a broken heel repaired, and MYRA and SAM go out for a cocktail at The Polynesian Lounge. When SAM tells ELI about that afternoon, it almost destroys their twenty-year friendship. Instead, it marks a turning point for ELI, who makes an unexpected trip to San Francisco to see his daughter and meets CLAIRE on a flight back to Cleveland. CLAIRE has been as loyal in her marriage as ELI has been in his, but her husband suddenly has gone to a coastal retreat with their son's girlfriend, so CLAIRE is flying to a party in Cleveland. She has taken the savings from their joint account and plans to spend it on wild adventures after the party. She invites ELI to join her, and he almost does. As the plane is landing, CLAIRE and ELI decide they are too conventional for such a spontaneous fling, but having one drink together in Denver would be harmless. In the final scene between ELI and MYRA, revelations lead to an uneasy reconciliation.
