Amateur Means Lover

Synopsis:
A London boarding house. A new tenant arrives Courtney Kemble. He is evasive about his past - hinting that for years he has been looking after an invalid mother. Courtney has a strange effect on the tenants and somehow sorts out there problems and love lives. It is then discovered that Courtney and his wife were great Shakespearean actors on the brink on stardom when she took ill and he had to nurse her for ten years until her death.

Synopsis:
the Mortmain family are staying at a converted Norman castle. the new heir to the estate, Simon, an American arrives with friend Neil arrive to view his inheritance. Neill falls for one of the daughters, Rose, but decides against pursuing the matter because he does not want to be tied to England. Simon, however, does propose to Rose and she accepts as she believes his money will help her family. One day, Cassandra, the other daughter, is alone with Simon and she realises that she is in love with him. Just before her sister's wedding Rose arrives with Neil- they can no longer deny their love for each other and they plan to marry. Which leaves Simon and Cassandra to settle things between them
