Jeff Seabaugh was dubbed "Peanut" by doctors when he was born nearly 3 months premature on the Travis Air Force Base in Fairfield, California. In spite of the bleak prognosis because of his early arrival (he despises tardiness to this very day) and bucking every doctor's prediction, he persevered and survived. After brief stops in Texas and Oklahoma, his family settled back in their home state of Arkansas (Go Hogs!), and he spent most of his formative years living outside Little Rock, Arkansas. It was there that he became stagestruck and auditioned for his first stage production ("Oliver!") at the age of 11 by singing the Carpenters' "Sing" - or rather, attempting to sing it (he forgot the words). In spite of his song choice, he was cast in the chorus, and the rest - as they say - is history. He received a BFA in Acting from the University of Memphis (then Memphis State University), and moved to New Hampshire the week after graduation to work at a theatre for which he had never even auditioned (Hackmatack Playhouse, Berwick, Maine). Theatre founder Carelton Guptill invited him to stay beyond the summer to perform year round at his Hackmatack/Cocheco Falls Playhouse in Dover, New Hampshire. After two years at Hackmatack and Cocheco Falls, Jeff sold his Buick Regal, packed up his bags, and made the move to New York. He performed with American Globe Theatre, Ensemble Studio Theatre, National Shakespeare Company, and Jean Cocteau Repertory, among others, before temporarily leaving acting to become a director. With some friends, he founded an off-off-Broadway theatre company, NativeAliens Theatre Collective, with whom he produced, directed and performed in many productions. Highlights as a director with NativeAliens include "Pillow Talk," "Furious," "Civilized," "A Loss of Color," "Swing Out Bernadette," "Vieux Carre," and his first play as a playwright, "In My Dreams." He took a brief hiatus from theater to buy a house and build a family, returning to Hackmatack Playhouse for several summers as a director, directing "Bye, Bye, Birdie," "Oliver," "Seussical," "The Music Man," "All Shook Up" (twice), "Carousel" and "Singin' in the Rain." He has also returned there as an actor, to play Roger DeBris in "The Producers," and Clown #1 in "The 39 Steps", for which he won a Seacoast Media Group Spotlight Award as Best Supporting Actor in a Play. As a playwright, Jeff is inspired by the work of Tennessee Williams and William Inge. His plays include "In My Dreams", which was performed by NativeAliens Theatre Collective, and his first solo play, "How to Make an American Family," which was performed at the Jewel Box Theatre as part of the Midtown International Theatre Festival. His second solo show, "We Crazy, Right?," was recently presented as part of the New York International Fringe Festival and was selected to be published by IndieTheaterNow as part of their "Best of the Fringe" series. He lives with his husband, 3 adopted children, 3 adopted cats, 2 parakeets and an enormous yellow lab in northern Westchester.
