Emily Schwends plays include TAKE ME BACK, SOUTH OF SETTLING, SPLINTERS, ROUTE ONE OFF, CARTHAGE and BEHIND THE MOTEL. Her play THE OTHER THING was produced in the 2015 Uptown Series at Second Stage Theatre, where she was the 2014 Tow Foundation playwright-in-residence. Her play TAKE ME BACK was produced in 2014 at Walkerspace in Soho and was a New York Times Critics Pick. Her ten-minute play, HALFWAY, is the winner of the 2013 Heideman Prize and was produced at the Humana Festival of New American Plays at the Actors Theatre of Louisville. Her play SOUTH OF SETTLING was produced in Steppenwolfs Next Up Rep in 2012. Her work has been developed at The New Group, Roundabout Theatre Company, ACT Theatre, Marin Theatre Company, Partial Comfort Productions, Ars Nova, the Alliance Theatre, the Source Festival in DC, and the ONeill National Playwrights Conference, among others. She is a frequent contributor to Christine Joness Theatre for One booth. She is a two-time Lecomte du Nouy Prize winner, the recipient of a MacDowell Fellowship, the 2011 ACT New Play Award winner, the 2009 David Calicchio Emerging American Playwrights Prize winner, and a finalist for the 2011 ATCA/Steinberg prize. Her work has been commissioned by Ensemble Studio Theatre through the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation and by the Old Vic in London. She is a proud alumna of the playwriting programs at Juilliard and Tisch.

Other Thing, The

Synopsis:
Kim is a journalist, writing what she thinks will be a run-of-the-mill article about a father and son team of ghost hunters in rural Virginia. As the three of them pass the evening outside a haunted barn, waiting for spirits to reveal themselves, what begins as just another day at the office soon becomes a night none of them will forget. Too Much Too Soon

Too Much Too Soon is a collection of short plays commissioned by Red Elevator Productions and Lesser America. the production is a sequel to Red Elevator's Too Little Too Late, that ran at HERE Arts Center in 2010 and that earned three New York Innovative theater Award nominations, including Best Short Play, Best Actress in a Featured Role, and Best Ensemble.
