Damsel In Distress, A

Synopsis:
George is an American composer working at the Savoy Theatre in London. Maud is the thoroughly English Lady Marshmoreton, a beautiful socialite who lives in a castle with a ha-ha and a drawbridge. They really shouldn't have met because George needs to complete his musical and Maud needs to marry most urgently, and already has someone totally unsuitable in mind. Luckily Maud's fierce aunt, Lady Caroline, has a solution - she's going to lock her lusty charge in the tower. Uplifting and wildly funny, this musical comedy is a tribute to English love with all its eccentricities. Based on the novel by P.G. Wodehouse, with songs by George and Ira Gershwin, A Damsel in Distress is well-known from the popular 1937 comedy film and features the unforgettable songs Nice Work If You Can Get It, I Can't Be Bothered Now and A Foggy Day (In London Town).

Enigma Variations

Synopsis:
Nobel Prize-winning author Abel Znorko lives as a recluse on a remote island in the Norwegian Seas. For fifteen years, his one friend and soulmate has been Helen, from whom he has been physically separated for the majority of their affair. Journalist Erik Larsen arrives to interview Znorko about his latest book, which is, in fact, a transcript of correspondence between the author and Helen. As Larsen seeks to unmask the identity of Helen, Znorko becomes infuriated. Evasions and lies twist into increasingly complex puzzles. Is Larsen really a journalist? Is it possible that both Znorko and Larsen love the same woman? Is Helen still alive? Slowly the barriers between the two men begin to fall as the profound mysteries of intimacy rise in their place.

Exit The KIng

Synopsis:
The once great King Berenger the First is 400 years old, on his last legs and ruling over a decaying kingdom. Now the party is over and the end is nigh. in his youth he reigned over millions of subjects, battled thousands of enemies, single-handedly split the atom and invented the car. He even controlled the weather. But now the heater is broken, the cows have stopped producing milk and the sun is late. While his two queens bicker about whether he should be made aware of his imminent demise, it is clear that Berenger wont surrender without a fi ght. But the fact is, this is the last day of his life and the end of the play could mean the end of everything. ionescos darkly hilarious and sparklingly witty comedy makes fun of all the things that tragedy usually takes seriously.

Indiscretions

Synopsis:
In this personal favorite of the French master, a young man bursts to tell his parents that he has met the love of his life and intends to marry her. His mother is devastated by the news, while his Father harbors a secret about the new girlfriend that could destroy them all. Torn between love and resentment for an undeserving family she supports, the sage and spinster aunt attempts to create some order out of this mess. This crackling farce satirizes the pretensions of bourgeois bohemians and a mother who dotes on her son, perhaps, a bit too much.

Monsieur Popular

Synopsis:
To ensure his romantic affairs with married ladies run smoothly, Celimare has a ruse. To keep things sweet, he befriends their husbands too, and in truth, he proves to be a wonderful friend. He remembers their birthdays, chooses their furnishings, employs their cooks. Everybody's happy - even the dog. But when the 47 year-old prepares to leave the past behind and marry 18 year-old Emma, it's easy enough to burn his lovers' letters, but his mistresses' husbands are simply not prepared to let him go. Set in 19th century Paris, this hilarious French farce - replete with songs and dances - is by Eugene Marin Labiche (1815-1888), a consumate master of the well-made play, who was to be a huge influence upon Georges Feydeau himself.
