Was born in the Anderston district of Glasgow. Educated at St Patrick's junior secondary before moving to St Mungo's academy. Left school in August 1955 and became a miner at Bowhill colliery Fife after which he had a variety of occupations from brickies hod carrier to the Clydeside shipyards. At the age of twenty six became a mature Drama student at the Glasgow school of Dramatic art. On leaving there he has been earning his corn from a wide variety of Acting roles in everything from Pantomime to Shakespeare. Wrote first play the Steamie which won A Scots BAFTA and then wrote Paddies Market For the Tron Theatre in the Glasgow year of Culture. Has also written for Radio and Television. Reached the age of 65 in august 2007 but still Writes and performs. the latest performance has been taking on the Role of the great Scottish comic Rikki Fulton in the Play Rikki and Me. Which played to full houses in the autumn of 2006. He co-wrote this work and will again be touring it in the latter part of 2007. At the present time 19 08 2008 He has just finished writing and directing a play about Glasgow Celtic Football club's UEFA cup run in the 2002-03 season performing at the Pavilion Theatre Glasgow.

the play is set in the traditional Glasgow market which caters for the less affluent section of society and is peopled with great comedy characters who also have the capacity to provoke tears as well as laughter. Rikki and Me

Synopsis:
the play celebrates the life and times of the legendary Scots comic Rikki Fulton and his wife Kate. the action of the piece starts from Rikki being born and traces his life in the Navy and subsequent career in the theatre and television including many of his comic creations, until his death from Alzheimer's.

Steamie, The

Set in a Glasgow wash house on the last day of the year in the early 1950's. It center's around how the women got through their days toils and the various stories and adventures they share during the final wash of the year. Has been a critical and box office success since it's first showing and usually plays somewhere in the world at least once a week. the author's only gripe is when it is played only for laughs.
