Literary Agent:    The Agency (London) Ltd  represented by Katie Williams

Bea is a West Country writer with diverse interests and a natural bent towards irreverent, dark comedy. In November 2014 Bea was announced as the winner of the prestigious Theatre 503 Playwriting Award for AND THEN COME THE NIGHTJARS. Her one-woman show INFINITY POOL toured the Exeter Bike Shed, the Plymouth Theatre Royal (as part of the Plymouth Fringe Festival) before heading to the Tobacco Factory in Bristol. In addition to writing plays, Bea has also written sketches, a radio sitcom, storytelling pieces and stand-up comedy: "I'm interested in writing honest and irreverent drama and comedy that is compassionate and socially aware. Above all, I think compelling storytelling lies at the heart of great drama and I work hard to craft work that is engaging, that says something sincere and that takes the audience somewhere. In addition to writing plays I've also written sketches, storytelling pieces, stand-up comedy, edited verbatim text, written for radio, for guided tours and written the dialogue for an educational game about the European Parliament. I've learnt from all of these things about capturing the imagination and attention of an audience. And also that it is genuinely difficult to make the European Parliament seem exciting." - Playwright

And Then Come the Nightjars

And Then Come the Nightjars
A tender, frank and funny play about a West Country farm struggling to survive the Foot and Mouth pandemic. South Devon, 2001. Disease ravages the countryside, pyres are lit on the horizon, and dairy herdsman Michael is trapped as his farm becomes a battleground for his business, his heritage, and his friendship with local vet Jeff. Ten years on and the battle scars are as evident on their relationship as they are on the landscape. And Then Come The Nightjars charts the struggle of one farm amidst a crisis that saw the slaughter of four million animals and the postponement of a General Election.

Infinity Pool: A Modern Retelling of Madame Bovary

Synopsis:
Infinity Pool takes the anniversary of the publication of Madame Bovary - a novel that scandalized France - as the starting point for this tragi-comic love story. In the sticky, polyester heat of summer on a Devonshire trading estate Emma Barnicott dreams of a life beyond the dusty venetian blinds of her office. Voicemails unanswered, bills unopened, Emma whiles away the tedious hours looking at luxury honeymoons for her imaginary marriage to a man she's never met. When her online lover suggests meeting, Emma's elaborate web of debt and deceit begins to pull her stable world apart.
