44 McDonald Road         44 McDonald Road         Bake Sale, The         Little White Lies         SPOTLESS         When did we forget we were livin'?         While the Kettle's Boiling

44 McDonald Road

Synopsis:
People say schooldays are the best days of your life. Well. They've clearly never been to university. Ten years after graduating all their peers have achieved MAs in Career Success and Baby Management but best friends Kate and Jules are still sharing a flat, sharing the bills and having the time of their lives while they're at it. But a visit from an old 'friend' causes havoc in the pair's home. Carol Davidson, queen- bitch -on- campus -turned- celebrity -journalist, arrives for what Kate presumes is a friendly catch up. Little does she know that Carol's on the hunt for a scoop and the single girls are her prey! This sharp and witty comedy laughs in the face of our ten year plans and lifetime goals and embraces the student way of life long after the matriculation cards have expired.

Bake Sale, The

Synopsis:
The Bake Sale utilizes a strong sense of Glaswegian dialect and rhythm to portray the sectarianism that still deeply exists within Scottish society. It's plays out like a tug of war between two generations of the same family, a mother and daughter, set in Mary McBride's home in Glasgow. Rosie is a loving daughter, and all she wants is too be loved in return from her mother, who's hard faced, set in her way's attitude, makes it difficult for her to show Rosie the love she deserves. This play is based around the themes of morals and religion. Mary is completely dedicated to her faith, and her daughter's ' outright selfishness' at failing to provided her with any grandchildren shames Mary in her close nit catholic community. However as the play unfolds it is clear that Rosie has a little secret of her own, that may not sit very well with Mary's beliefs.

While the Kettle's Boiling

Synopsis:
The play is set in the living room of Margaret's home which is situated in a block of tenement flats in Shettleston, Glasgow on the same floor as her companion (although she would grudge using that word) Josey. As Margaret is conducting her usual afternoon nosey, she is interrupted, much to her annoyance (or as she would like to have us believe) by the loud and lovable Josey McGuire. As the pair share a "wee cup of tea" we are invited into their friendship and the world that surrounds it, not to mention that which fuels their daily gossip. We are entertained by their love/ hate relationship and continuously conflicting comic views on the world.

Notes:
Exciting monthly workshops exploring freshly written play scenes with fellow writers, Actors And directors.
