Tale Of Two Cities

Tale Of Two Cities
Would you be prepared to die in order to ensure someone else's happiness? That's what the troubled Sydney Carton elects to do in this adaptation of Charles Dickens' A Tale of Two Cities. set amidst the tumult of the French Revolution. Sometimes with breath-taking pace and employing much of Dickens' original writing, this new adaptation for the stage, sweeps us from Paris to London and back again, supported all the way by colourful Dickensian characters, from the ever cheerful Jerry Cruncher, to the vengeful and bloodthirsty Therese Defarge. This is a tempestuous tale of love, intrigue and treachery leading to its poignant and tragic end in a courtyard in Paris - where stands a guillotine. This two-act play is for a large cast, with much scope for doubling or for involving as many people as possible as extras.
