Stuart Paterson's children's plays, first performed at Glasgow's Citizens Theatre, Edinburgh's Royal Lyceum, Dundee Repertory Theatre, Newcastle Playhouse and Birmingham Old Rep, have since been staged throughout the UK and recently in Scandinavia. they include MERLIN the MAGNIFICENT, the SNOW QUEEN, BEAUTY AND the BEAST, CINDERELLA, GRANNY & the GORILLA, HANSEL & GRETEL. the PRINCESS & the GOBLIN, the SLEEPING BEAUTY, PUSS IN BOOTS, a one-act play the SECRET VOICE and adaptations of Roald Dahl's GEORGE's MARVELLOUS MEDICINE, JM Barrie's PETER PAN, Rudyard Kipling's the JUNGLE BOOK, Michael Morpurgo's KENSUKE's KINGDOM and Robert Louis Stevenson's TREASURE ISLAND. His adaptations of HANSEL & GRETEL and KENSUKE's KINGDOM were both nominated for the TMA Best Children's Production of the Year Award. Stuart has also written KING OF the FIELD for the Traverse Theatre and new versions of Chekhov's the CHERRY ORCHARD, the SEAGULL and UNCLE VANYA. For the Scottish Youth Theatre he has written IN TRACTION (later televised by the BBC) and adapted Zola's GERMINAL. He has also adapted Zola's theRESE RAQUIN for Communicado Theatre Company which was later staged at the Newcastle Playhouse. His work for Tag Theatre Company includes an adaptation of James Hogg's the PRIVATE MEMOIRS & CONFESSIONS OF A JUSTIFIED SINNER. For Norther Stage he has adapted the BALLROOM OF ROMANCE by William Trevor. He has more recently completed two new original play MOON STREET and DREAM GIRL and a new version of August Strindberg's COMRADES. Stuart has also written MISTERSTOURWORM & the KEPLIE's GIFT and a new version of HANSEL & GRETEL for orchestral compositions by Savourna Stevenson which have been widely performed and recorded by the Orchestra of the Scottish Opera. More details can be found at www.misterstoorworm.com. His television credits include the OLD COURSE and the film WORKHOUSES which won the BBC Pharic McLaren Award for Best Script and Best Production. His short film SOMEBODY's WEE NOBODY won the Gold Award at the Chicago International Film Festival. Current projects include his original screenplays SILVERSAND, which is currently in development with Makar Productions) and UNDER the SAME MOON and screen adaptations of the KELPIE's PEARLS by Mollie Hunter which is in development with Pelicula Films and Shusaku Endo's MASTER OF LIES, which is in development with Makar Productions. For radio Stuart has adapted Chekhov's the SEAGULL for Bona Bradcasting/BBC Radio 3. Setting off to seek his fortune he soon discovers - of course - that this is no ordinary cat, especially not once they have defeated the evil witch and Puss has purloined her magnificent, re-sequinned magic boots. . .
