Phil Paradis is an award-winning playwright, whose plays have been performed by theatre companies in California, Ohio, Kentucky, Washington, and Rhode Island. His Soldier's Christmas premieres at Northern Kentucky University, Highland Heights, KY, USA December 12-21, 2014. The play with song, inspired by the Christmas Truce of 1914, was a finalist in the Kentucky Theatre Association's From the Bluegrass New Play Award Competition. Two of Paradis' short comedies, Rx: Try Hilaria Now and Sunny Side were produced in Los Angeles. The Great Debate and The Kitty Cat Ultimatum, were presented at the CakeTown COMEDY JAM2. Three of his other short comedies, Powder Puff Heist, The Holey Swiss Duet and Sunny Side, were performed as part of Swiss Cheese, Sweethearts and Shenanigans at the Village Players. His Love Knots (a love-fest of five short plays) premiered at the Cincinnati Fringe Festival. His Powder Puff Heist was presented at the Salve Regina University New Play Festival in Newport, Rhode Island. Phil's The Great Debate first appeared at the North Park Playwright Festival in San Diego. His Sunny Side won production in the 2013 Kentucky New Play Series. The world premiere of Paradis' play Footprints of the Polar Bear won the Cincinnati Directors Competition in 2008, where it was voted Audience Favorite and Critics' Favorite. In addition to being a playwright, Paradis has taught literature and creative writing at various colleges and universities for 20 years. He has published 200 poems and three limited edition volumes of poetry: Tornado Alley, From Gobbler's Knob and Something of Ourselves. He won an Academy of American Poets Prize and an Appalachian Writers Association Prize for poetry. Paradis is a member of the Dramatists Guild of America, a past president of the Cincinnati Playwrights Initiative, and founder and director of Actors & Playwrights Collaborative. He resides in Northern Kentucky.

Bag of Groceries, A

Synopsis:
Time is the present. It's Saturday afternoon in an inner city park where two cousins (La Roy and Tyrone) hang week after week and up walks this white guy (Chris) carrying a bag of groceries like he's lost and when they face off sparks fly--it's diversity training, culture clash, and group therapy on the street because everybody has some baggage they're carrying.

Footprints of the Polar Bear

Synopsis:
Footprints of the Polar Bear is the story of a disturbed homeless Vietnam veteran, obsessed with politics, global warming, and environmental degradation. Identifying with polar bears, he retreats from society to a lofty perch on a girder high atop a metropolitan city bridge, where he meets a young gung-ho EMT determined to save him.
