Classic Cuts: the taming Of the Shrew

Synopsis:
Writer Sandy Nelson and Director Rosie Kellagher transpose Shakespeare's sharpest comedy to the 1950s: a time of teddy boys and tea dresses, beat poets and Sunday best, when the sexes readied themselves for revolution and lines were drawn on both sides of the sexual revolution. On the cusp of this time of change we find Petruchio and Katherina: the kind of couple who thrive on conflict. Will Petruchio pull his punches or can he tame his shrew? - See more at: http://oran-mor.co.uk/whats-on/classic-cuts-taming-shrew/?eID=5304#sthash.Vtae6CEm.dpuf

But by October of that same year no Western country had crashed in peacetime as quickly and as badly. The people of Iceland were afraid. They needed guidance. They needed hope. One man stood up! Well, he was a stand up comedian. This is the story of Jon Gnarr and The Best Party of Rejkyavik!

Yellow Wallpaper, The

Synopsis:
I can't stand this room. I never saw a worse wallpaper in my life. The colour is repellent, almost revolting: a smouldering, unclean yellow, strangely faded by the slow turning sunlight. It is a dull yet lurid orange in some places, a sickly sulphur tint in others. I wish I could get well faster. This wallpaper looks at me as if it KNEW what a vicious influence it had.

Notes:
adapted from Charlotte Perkins Gilman's classic Gothic tale of misunderstood mental health and marriage transfers to the stage in a modern reworking, showing that the themes are all too relevant over 100 years on.
