Josh Meissner has lived on the plains in Saskatchewan and Minnesota, as well as in California, Miyagi-ken, Japan, and Peterborough, Ontario. He became a member of Peterborough's Union Collective in 1993, a community which staged scores of original productions in a former coffin factory, the Union Theatre, until its dissolution following an eviction in 1996. He continues to write for the stage and film.
