Blaze Away! The Incredible Story of Josef Locke

Blaze Away! The Incredible Story of Josef Locke

Synopsis:
Josef Locke was a Derry born singer and entertainer who was a celebrity long before the term had been invented. A larger than life performer he had a unique stage presence and was adored by audiences in Britain and Ireland through the 40s, 50s and 60s. Blaze Away! The Incredible Story of Josef Locke does just that. A show that will hugely entertain and inform and give you a flavour of a man who performed in no less than five Royal Variety Performances, such was his popularity. In 1947 he released Hear My Song, Violetta, which was to become his life-long signature tune. In 1991 the film Hear My Song was released which brought Joseph Locke to a whole new generation. Cathal McCabe, who wrote and directed I Hear You Calling Me: The Story of Count John McCormack, which was a huge hit with audiences everywhere, has devised this new show which features all the great songs of Josef Locke, plus the scandals that always had him in the headlines! A notorious womaniser, his legendary tussles with the British tax authorities had him fleeing Britain to Ireland where he lived out the remainder of his life.
