Notes:
Part of The Locker. The Signal-Man first appeared as part of the Mugby Junction short story collection in 1866. Originally presented in the Christmas edition of All the Year Round, Dickens used this periodical to express his beliefs in social reform. Now Simon Blake offers a chilling reminder of Dickens own themes, and explores the dangers of over-stretching the services on which we all rely.

Lela & Co

Lela & Co
As for what came next, things unspoken and untold until now, it happened like this. . . In the beginning was the mattress. Gradually, other little changes - more bolts on the front door; the gun; the locked cupboard. And she knew in her heart that change was bad. The story of a young girl trapped in an increasingly tiny world. Based on a true story.
