Chas LiBretto is a writer and performer based in New York. He is the co-founder of Psittacus Productions, a theatre company specializing in the collision of ancient and modern stories. His recent writing includes the Pulitzer nominated Cyclops: A Rock Opera (w/ Landon Marcus), the novel A True History, A Cure in the House, the musical The Royal Pyrate (w/ Landon Marcus) and a full-length version of Laodamiad. His writing has been produced and developed at Lincoln Center, Ars Nova, Pasadena Playhouse, Alabama Shakespeare Festival, Vineyard Theatre, New York Musical Theatre Festival (NYMF), Theater Masters, littlefield, Ugly Rhino, Columbia University, The Sargent Theatre, Musical Theatre Factory, Son of Semele Theatre, The Lost Colony, the Theatre of Epidauros, White Heron Theatre Company, and Paideia Institute. He is a recipient of an Anna Sosenko Assist Trust and a Puffin Foundation Grant. He is an alum of Uncharted at Ars Nova and Theater Masters and holds an MFA in playwriting from Columbia University.

Cyclops: A Rock Opera

Synopsis:
Featuring an original score of 24 genre-bending songs written by Jayson Landon Marcus and Benjamin Sherman, "CYCLOPS" is a fast-paced, rock n' roll musical re-imagining of the only surviving Greek Satyr Play, the story of Odysseus' encounter with the monstrous Cyclops, and his adventures with the loud and crude rock band the Satyrs.

Laodamiad
Laodamia is the first woman to be widowedthe War in Troy. To cope, she decides to carry on her marriage with a statue of her husband's likeness. Can her father halt spiraling descent into madness before it's too late? And what can he do about his nation's grief? Based on fragments from Euripides' lost play Protesilaos, Laodamiad explores love, war, and loss.
