Begin/End

Synopsis:
Sometimes things just end. Not like in films and on TV. Not with explosions and music and fights. They just dissolve and disappear. A gang of two inseparable friends breathe freedom and possibility during two heady years of adventure, but something unspoken grows between them. As relationships form and dissolve, it is the beginning and the end of everything. A multimedia performance featuring VJing and a contemporary soundtrack by one of Britain's freshest new composers.

Free

Synopsis:
How far would you run to find freedom? A hard-hitting story of two teenagers, brought together through the dynamic discipline of free-running. Kris and Zara share a city but can't find a place to rest. Haunting memories mix with an uncomfortable present as they keep on running, unable to face the consequences of their pasts - unable to stop or think for even a moment. Free tells the story of two teenagers, brought together through the dynamic discipline of free-running who face life-changing choices when a practice designed for self-improvement and freedom starts to cage them in. From dusk til dawn, against the backdrop of a sterile urban skyline, Kris and Zara form an obsessive relationship with one another, their city and the sport they know is pushing them to the limits of what is safe. Twisting together the real and the imagined, Free asks what we're running away from and if we're ever willing to stop and confront what we've left behind.

I Am England

Synopsis:
Bankrupt, isolated and in a state of collapse, a once-proud nation falls apart at the seams. Nostalgic for empire and thirsty for revenge, a small town politician presents a hero to the masses: a poster-boy for conscription. The future of the nation hangs in the balance, but at a time of intense change those in power must confront the truth of who they are - and who they might become. Inspired by Shakespeare's Coriolanus, I Am England offers a unique perspective on political power, authoritarianism and social justice from the generation whose stories are yet to be written.

Stalin's Daughter

Synopsis:
The incredible true story of how Josef Stalin's daughter came to make her new life in Clifton, Bristol. They never ask me who I am, or why I came. Only when I plan on leaving. Leaving three husbands and the fall of the Soviet Union in her wake, Svetlana Alliluyeva seeks a place to reflect on the horrors of her past and to escape her father's name. After defecting to the United States, she assumes a new name, Lana Peters, before moving on to England. To Bristol. To Clifton. But a new name doesn't give you a new identity. Whether she calls herself Svetlana or Lana, she is still Stalin's daughter.

World Outside, The

Synopsis:
Celebrating the New Forest for its mysteries, secrets and ghosts as well as its oddities, contradictions and quirks, The World Outside charts the homecoming of members of a Forest family. The Forest gives as much as it takes away, and is the one member of the family nobody can agree on. . .

Notes:
The World Outside is a new play written especially for Forest Forge by David Lane, inspired by research and interviews with people living and working in the region. It explores the ties we have to home, what it is that draws us back to our roots and how far we would compromise our loyalties for the sake of our birthplace.
