Bruce A! Kraemer was born in San Francisco, California well before it was fashionable to be born there. He was raised across the Golden Gate Bridge in Marin County amongst affluence, indulgence and occasional flatulence. He received a BA in Psychology from Hobart College in the dark days before anyone had invented Media Studies. He then studied theatre lighting design at Lester Polakov's Studio of Stage Design, a now defunct design school in the West Village. Bruce's favorite collaborator is director and dramaturge Joan Kane. They are co-artistic directors of independent theatre company, Ego Actus. Joan doesn't let Bruce, or anyone else, get away with stupid stuff. Bruce has had no previous career as a playwright because what do you mean is his first play. As a producer, Bruce has frequently found himself doing dramaturgical surgery on other playwright's scripts to make them presentable for the independent theatre scene. Bruce has had extensive experience in the technical side of show business having done lighting design for the Roundabout Theatre and Soho Rep and having designed shows at Ensemble Studio Theatre, 59e59 Theaters, the Bleecker Street Theater, the June Havoc Theater, and many others. Bruce also does audio, technical direction, stage management and production intercom. He has done one or another of these for the Summer and Winter Olympics, the Paralympics, the World Cup, three Superbowls, two Papal visits, the Commonwealth Games, the Goodwill Games, six Tony Awards, the Grammys, three Video Music Awards, the WNBA All Star Game, the NBA All Star game, the NBA Draft, four NFL Drafts, the MLB Draft, ten Christmas Tree Lightings at Rockefeller Center, on Broadway, Off Broadway, Off Off Broadway, for dance, fashion shows, art installations and hundreds of corporate events. One of his favorite clients is ESPN. He does location lighting for them for Mike & Mike in the Morning, The Herd, SportsCenter and other shows.
