Tom W. Kelly is a San Francisco playwright whose plays have been produced in SF, London, NYC, La, and throughout the country. In 2008 his "Faded Photographs" and "The Virgin Tango" opened and closed a compilation program titled American Briefs, the inaugural production at above the Stag Theatre, produced by Shameless Theatre Company, London. at SF's New Conservatory Theatre Center, his full-length comedy Friends are Forever opened NCTC's 2008-09 Pride Season (extended), his 10-minute "Head in the Clouds" appeared in Men In Uniform (2007-08 Pride Season), and his full-length comedy/Drama Significant Others ran for 8 weeks (2004-05 Pride Season; extended). His one-act "The Virgin Tango" was part of a compilation evening titled Homosexual acts at The Duplex in NYC. To date, six of his one-act plays have been published. He co-teaches intermediate to advanced playwriting workshops at NCTC. He is also a freelance writer and has contributed to numerous magazines and newspapers, including reviews of books, art, and theatre as well as travel articles, community interest pieces, critical essays, and short stories. He spends way too much time in dark theatres and at computer keyboards, and should really see the sun more.

Friends Are Forever

Synopsis:
Follows three gay couples as they explore friendship, love, fidelity, and infidelity as well as the occasionally awkward repercussions. Friendships between the couples are humorously tested when indiscretions and secrets are unexpectedly exposed. James, Steve, and Mike are long-term friends. Their new partners, George, Bill, and Roger, respectively, try to fit in (unsuccessfully sometimes). James and George stumble as their relationship begins. Steve and Bill happily play the field privately and professionally. and Mike and Roger tentatively try monogamy. Given the unpredictable nature of anonymous encounters, they discover that sometimes it's only one degree of separation.

Significant Others

Synopsis:
Despite the impossible ideals of youth, the wandering eye, and the irascibility of later years, Love Triumphs in this enchanted evening of five one-acts. act I opens with 'Faded Photographs' where two mature men, once passionate lovers, re-meet on a moonlit cruise 20+ years later. Next is 'Roadside assistance' which follows two young country men, walking along a lonely stretch of backroad, who realize their relationship needs more work than their broken-down truck. Some light comic relief ends the first act with '. . .Or Not To Be?' as three close friends sip lattes, gossip about their love lives, and learn that their friendship is the one certainty in their uncertain lives. act II begins on a lofty look-out point with the passionate 'Twice Blessed,' where two men (already in other long-term relationships) expose their hearts and fears to each other. and completing the evenings arc is 'The Virgin Tango,' the tale of two gay teens who celebrate a romantic night at the Senior prom. . . in a storeroom just off the dance floor. Significant Others celebrates love and romance between men from teenage to golden years, making it the perfect date show.
