Kamishibai, translated as paper play, originated as children's street theatre in Japan. Storytellers would travel from village to village on bicycle, telling stories using illustrated paper panels. Today there are only about 100 Kamishibai performers left in Japan. Jemma Kahn studied under veteran performer Rokuda Genji with whom she travelled and performed. - See more at:
