Junction 25 is a group of young people aged between 11 and 18 making contemporary theatre at the Tramway Theatre in Glasgow. The group is produced by Jess Thorpe and Tashi Gore of Glas(s) Performance and was formed in 2005. We take part in weekly workshops where we engage in a collaborative process in order to create original and personal performance works. Junction 25 began as a response to a feeling about the need to represent the voices of young people in contemporary performance. We hope to deliver this work within a 'professional' context so that an audience might be able to view it as more than a participatory experience but also as a valid piece of art in its own right. Junction 25 is a place where we come together, explore big questions we have about the world, make creative responses to these questions and share these responses with other people. Currently Junction 25 is made up of 20 people - its a living thing so it is always changing. If you interested in coming along and being a part of what we do then you can e mail us at info@junction-25.com

I Hope My Heart Goes First

Synopsis:
I Hope My Heart Goes First is an original performance piece by Junction 25 in which they explore the ideas of love and loss. "Heart Attack (Myocardial Infarction)": Sudden interruption or insufficiency of the supply of blood to the heart, often resulting in death. "Heartbreak": Overwhelming sorrow, grief or disappointment often a result of loss. "Lose (ones) heart to": To fall in love with, often resulting in joy, harmony and bliss. "Heart Failure": Inability of the heart to keep up with the demands on it. It is an attempt to explore the ideas of love and loss from the experience perspective of a young person living in 2010. We have been asking ourselves some questions and trying to find some answers. We have been trying to come up with a shared definition. We have been wondering about if it is the same for all of us and if not why not? We have been trying to imagine what it will feel like and what we should be expecting. It has been a struggle to figure out exactly how it works. Some people have had experience and that has been useful.
