Lily A Musical Portraite

Synopsis:
1925 Metropolitan Museum of Art - a painting is unveiled. It was painted in 1905 and entitled "Woman At Rest" . 1905 Lily Bart is desperate to rise in society and marry a rich husband. She meets and falls in love with lawyer Lawrence Selden but he is not rich so she does not marry him. She is accused of sleeping with numerous men and people start to shun her. Lily is now on a downward spiral. She takes chloral to make her sleep. She wants to get back with Lawrence. She takes too much chloral and drifts into a permeant sleep. Hence the painting
