HOTBUCKLE THEATRE COMPANY

Literary Agent:    n/a

We were formed by Adrian Preater and Gemma Aston in 2007, and haven't looked back. Starting off with the original production of Adrian's "Get Writing with Rosie", an educational play about creative writing, we then toured with a number of original works, namely Joshua and Ballad of a Bird, before Adrian started adapting novels - beginning with Great Expectations. Hotbuckle have gone from strength to strength, and after moving from a Surrey to a Shropshire base last year, we will be touring with Persuasion in the Autumn.

Great Expectations

Synopsis:
Pip's s impoverished childhood takes on a new dimension when he meets the strange Miss Havisham. An unknown benefactor turns Pip into a gentleman but he falls prey to the corruption of money. Hotbuckle explode onto the stage with this new, innovative adaptation of one of Dickens' greatest novels. With all the comedy, mystery, violent melodrama, suspense and poignancy of the original, it tells of Pip's journey from boyhood to manhood as he seeks to discover who he is and find his place in an inhospitable world. It is a story of love and loss, of guilt and shame, of fear and courage and has some of the most vivid and memorable characters in all of English literature. With the bicentenary of Dickens' birth in 2012, this electrifying, exhilarating and moving production is a mustsee.
