Echoes of Ebola

Synopsis:
An African town is battling to contain a killer virus. An African and an American scientist are competing against others to find a vaccine for the virus, but their motives are very different. African Aisha Laboru wants to save her people and make her name, while for her American mentor it's about money, and a need to justify everything he has lost. Meanwhile veteran aid workers and one-time lovers, Kofi Bello and Joy Cartwright, labor on projects purporting to improve the lives of thousands of souls. But none of them welcome the scrutiny of a young American freelance journalist. Ned Jacobs is taken under the predatory wing of 50-something Joy, but as he picks his way among the victims in the streets, he asks questions nobody wants to answer, challenging the motives of African and American alike, and discovering just how sinister the stakes in the global charity and drugs business are. When he acquires the final piece of a horrifying puzzle they don't deny their intentions, but it is too late to save the innocent or those who believed they were immune to the evil agenda they conspired to conceal.

Land Of Cheesecake And Icecream, The

Synopsis:
'The Land of Cheesecake and Ice Cream' is a chilling testament to the War on Terror. The crew of "Hunter 11", a 7-ton ammunition supply truck, is on a 1,000-mile journey through the most hostile desert terrain. The beleaguered, haunted, marines of "Hunter 11" come under constant attack, as they wrestle with the legitimacy of their mission, and the war in general. The play explores the impact of endless conflict, and an endless battle for survival, on a generation.

Notes:
Written, directed and produced by Jack Gilliat, he intended this play to be a voice for the men and women beneath the uniforms. "Soldiers are not weapons. This play is about their human complexities, not the orders they carry out," said Gilliat.
