Adolf's Girls

Synopsis:
the story is set in Germany during WW2, and life in the League of German Girls is fun for Kristina - until a young Gestapo officer seriously threatens a solemn promise she is determined to keep. the escalating problems in Nazi Germany, and her growing disillusionment with adolf Hitler, soon become the least of her worries.

Notes:
Short-listed in Drama Association of Wales one-act playwriting competition 2010. Run time is Approximately 55 minutes.

Baby Sparklers

Synopsis:
November 4th 1970 - a time for learning to swear, a time for discovering friendship, and a time for earning respect. armed with dustbin lids and iron railings, Rachel, Susan and Tommy are prepared to guard their modest bonfire pile against an expected raid by the dreaded Dawson twins. But an even greater danger threatens to engulf them when a member of the group is lured away by the Firework Man.

Notes:
This is the one-act version of "Sparklers", An evocation of children growing up in An industrial town in the 1970s. the characters Are Aged 7 to 9, but Are intended to be played by Adults or teenagers. Run time is Approximately 50 minutes.

Bat Out Of Heaven

Synopsis:
Sixteen year-old Rob is stunned when his sister, a talented table tennis player, is diagnosed with leukaemia. He is further shocked when it is revealed that Jessie had been adopted into the family as a young child. angered by what he feels has been unnecessary secrecy, he becomes increasingly resentful and argumentative. also, as his relationship with girlfriend Mel becomes difficult to maintain, Rob begins to display an irrational jealousy towards his sick sister. However, during a chat with his grandmother, Rob learns that Jessie may have a true brother or sister somewhere. This means there may be a perfect donor for Jessie's bone marrow transplant, after all. Rob realizes he now has to embark upon a quest to find that person. But how can you possibly trace someone when you don't even know their name?

Synopsis:
Bill is a curmudgeonly barman who nurses a desperate love for widowed innkeeper, Rose, but she has fallen for the charms of Ben, a recent settler in the village. However, a new guest at the hotel, a spate of burglaries and the local copper's electronic inventions combine to turn Bill's fortunes around.

Bully Dancers

Synopsis:
Two rival groups clash as they prepare for a dance team competition and find themselves forced to share the same rehearsal studio. the story develops over several weeks as their dislike for each other intensifies and builds to a climax - after which a happy ending is reached. the play offers a wide mix of characters, whose activities generate strong emotion, lots of physical action (including dance routines), some moments of quiet reflection and a fair sprinkling of humour.

Dance Story

Synopsis:
the Dragon Belles dance team is through to the finals of a competition, but one of the members is too ill to dance. In fact, she has a heart condition t hat can only be cured at a hospital in Canada. Now they need the prize money to send her there, but will her replacement be good enough?

Get To Dance

Synopsis:
a window in to the lives of the members of a dance academy and their "welcome" for new member Georgina, an overweight teenager who has decided to try dancing as a last resort to overcome her weight problem. This one-act play deals with bullying in all of its forms with humour, music, dance and pathos as Georgina's journey progresses to its uplifting conclusion.

Mickey Moon and the Mushroom Mountain

Synopsis:
Shortly after landing on a newly discovered moon, the crew of a galaxy survey craft find themselves taken captive by a group of primitive islanders. When the space travellers are subsequently threatened with incarceration in the dreaded "Pipes of Pain", their prospects look decidedly gloomy. This sombre situation is resolved happily, however, when resourceful Mickey Moon sheds a little light on things.

Train Ride Away, A (A Holocaust Journey)

Synopsis:
This is a story of love, bravery and cruelty. It begins in Nazi-occupied Hungary in 1944 when the Jewish Klein family are ordered to present themselves at the railway station early the following morning for "transportation and resettlement". Fearing this might ultimately mean death for all of them, Istvan and his wife Chicha pledge to keep their backward daughter blissfully unaware of what fate may have in store for them.
