Charles Gershman was born in Washington, D.C., and raised in St. Louis. He received his bachelors degree in 2005 from Columbia University, where he began writing in a fiction workshop with Raymond Kennedy. He has been writing plays since 2007. His body of work includes Shooting Abe, Tell Me in Code, Jays, The Cognac Party, The Prenup, Unbirth, and others. He has been an ONeill semifinalist, among other honors. His plays have been staged or developed with FringeNYC, La MaMa, Horse Trade, the Nantucket Short Play Festival, The Shelter, and others. He received his masters in theatre from Hunter College, where he studied playwriting with Tina Howe and Mark Bly.
