Working in both theatre and television, Rebecca is a graduate of the BBC's Director's Academy and is a regular director for DOCTORS, EASTENDERS and CASUALTY. She also directed childrens' series DANI'S CASTLE (4 episodes series 2) in 2013 and SADIE J, 10 episodes (entire series 3) in 2012. As a theatre director her most recent credits are: BERYL by Maxine Peake at West Yorkshire Playhouse 2014 (planning to re mount and tour 2015); THE TRIAL OF DENNIS THE MENACE at The South Bank Centre 2012; PANDA by Rona Munroe, Traverse Theatre 2011; THE COMEDY OF ERRORS, Shakespeare's Globe 2009 (the production was a huge success, was remounted and toured the UK again in 2010 and toured America in November 2011). Other credits include TOUCHED by Stephen Lowe at Salisbury Playhouse 2008; THE MERCHANT OF VENICE, Shakespeare's Globe 2007 (nominated for a What's On Stage award Best Shakespearean Production 2007); THE CANTERBURY TALES adapted by Mike Poulton, RSC 2006; THE INDIAN BOY by Rona Munroe RSC 2006; YIKES! by Bryony Lavery, Unicorn Theatre 2005; OLD KING COLE by Ken Campbell Unicorn at the Cochrane 2004: CANCER TALES by Nell Dunn, The New Wolsey 2004; THYESTES by Seneca, RSC 2003; The ACCRINGTON PALS by Peter Whelan, West Yorkshire Playhouse 2002; THE OWL WHO WAS AFRAID OF THE DARK adapted by Simon Reade, Bristol Old Vic 2002: THE MAGIC TOYSHOP adapted by Bryony Lavery, Shared Experience 2001; THE THREE BIRDS by Joanna Laurens, The Gate Theatre 2000; VENECIA by Jorge Accame, The Gate Theatre 2000. Synopsis:
the setting is a remote argentinian bordello owned by a blind old Madam dreaming of being reunited with a long-lost lover In Venice. around her lounge three bickering hookers In gaudy cleavage-thrusting rags: Marta the sour old sow, Graciela the lippy new girl and Rita the industrious peacemaker. the only man who ever shows up is the bovine Chato -tumescent with pride after recently acquiring an "electronic organ" (all jokes apply). the story could easily focus on any of these characters, but turns instead on just one: the blind Madam and bow the impoverished girls can get her to Venice.
