Shawn Fisher is a playwright, designer and director who currently runs the MFA program in Theatre design at Utah State University. a native of NJ, Shawn has worked professionally as a designer throughout the United States. as a playwright he has written several plays including SCOPe, Chumming, the News: august 4, 2005, the Commodore Murder and the Crow Song. Chumming, a short-form play, was workshopped at the Kennedy Center in Washington. SCOPe and "the News" were produced by the Fusion Theatre Project, an ensemble-based socially-minded Theatre group founded and directed by Fisher.

Chumming

Synopsis:
Two brothers Chip(17) and Buck (14) are on a dock fishing and chopping chum. they reflect on their abusive father, baseball and fishing. By the end of the play (which is the beginning of the story) we learn how and why their lives have just changed, and the truth behind their choice of "bait".

How To Make Rope Swing

Synopsis:
Wealthy town matriarch and former elementary school principle Delores Wright gets trapped in an old school house with the school custodian Bo. It gets darker and colder. They talk about the past. In 1952the schools became integrated and Bo's wife was the first black teacher. However she was drowned in a freak accident involving a swing. Bo starts to suspect from what Miss Wright is saying that maybe it was not an accident and Miss Wright knows what really happened

Scope

Synopsis:
the story follows two soldiers, a US army sniper and his partner/spotter in the days following a flawed mission. the sniper suddenly faces his most difficult battle when he comes face-to-face with his recent and unidentified target, now lying wounded in a hospital. the space is intended to be simple and sparse. the play moves from the real-time setting of a military hospital ante-room into various flashbacks of battle and home-life. actual quotes taken directly from the US army Sniper Manual are a recurring motif.

Streetlight Woodpecker

Synopsis:
Benji returns home from the war wounded. He cannot stay at what was the family home as his father has committed suicide and the house has gone. He moves in with old school friend Sam who is openly gay. His older sister a strict Catholic disapproves of this and keeps warning him about Sam. Benji tries his best to thwart Sam's budding romance and he causes trouble at the gay bar when he goes. A woodpecker has started pecking at a metal street light making a terrible noise.
