LEONARD DIAMOND

Nationality:    USA
email:    n/a     Website:    n/a

Literary Agent:    n/a

Doctor Diamond wrote his first musical in college and continued writing through medical school, psychiatric residency and private practice, right up to today! "Earnest" is the first musical for which he has written the book as well, which he acknowledges was only possible because he had Oscar Wilde as a collaborator. It is also the first of his musicals to be a finalist and given the opportunity to be fully produced at the New York Musical Theater Festival (NYMF) competitions for 2012 and 2013. None of this would have occurred without his wife, Ruth, who has been both the dream nurturer and the realist who made the fulfillment of the dream possible.

Research:    Member of the Dramatists Guild of America (as at 2015)

        Earnest or. . .What's in a Name?

Earnest or. . .What's in a Name?

Synopsis:
Oscar Wilde receives a surprise visit from Arthur Sullivan, who, as it turns out, has just split from his partner Gilbert and is seeking a new venture. Wilde, only too happy to oblige, offers up his unpublished play, The Importance of Being Earnest, and an inspired (fictitious) collaboration is born. What follows is an imagined musical version of one of the most well-loved plays of all time. Featuring a score the real Arthur Sullivan would have been proud to pen himself, Earnest or What's In A Name? is an exciting and inventive new musical that will leave you wanting more from this partnership that 'might have been.'
