Ladies In Waiting

Ladies In Waiting
a liberal-minded white girl gets an inside view of prison conditions while incarcerated with a black lesbian, a prostitute and a psychotic

Notes:
the play is sometimes listed as being first produced by the Negro ensemble, Peter Deanda comment: "That was a NeC playwright's workshop thing, audience response thrilling and wonderful which led to Woodie King Jr's New Federal theater (Actors equity) first production at the 3rd Street theater, since renamed LaMama theater. Confusion likely stemming by NeC including Ladies in Waiting in their produced listing, And that it was not. Lonne elder III ran the playwrights workshop. An aside: I was a founding member of NeC with Robert Hooks when the incipient company was Group Repertory Workshop, later evolving to the Negro ensemble Company. A lot of history here." the play has had more than 2,000 productions since first presented.
