Bucket of Blood, A         Ghost City

Bucket of Blood, A

Synopsis:
The film A Bucket of Blood, by Roger Corman of Little Shop of Horrors fame, follows the story of Walter, a wannabe artist in a beatnik cafe. Bereft of talent, but hopelessly in love with the idea of being a success, Walter finds he has a skill for sculpture. Unfortunately, the skill he possesses doesn't bode well for the people who sit for him in his studio& This free work-in-progress of a new musical is an early opportunity to see some of the songs and scenes from the show, currently in development by the team who brought the cult hit Shock Treatment to the stage. Drawing jazz influences from Miles Davis, Chet Baker, Dave Brubeck and John Coltrane, and laced with Corman's darkly comic sensibility, this show is going to be a scream.

Ghost City

Synopsis:
Tomorrow is a city built for nobody. Conceived by an image-conscious government to show the aspiration of a flailing society, the city will one day stand as a proud icon, showing a disenchanted people a vision of an idyllic future they struggle to believe in. For now it is a dream half-realised, a colossal building site overseen by the artist commissioned to design it, the project manager in charge of the men building it and the minister greasing the squeaky wheel of public relations. When the site is rocked by a spate of employee suicides, building an empty city begins to feel uncomfortably like digging a grave. Is a city really a city if it doesn't house anyone? Can a work of art ever justify the cost of human lives? Who are the shadowy figures filling the streets of Tomorrow when the sun has set on another day's work? The murmur of doubt spreads through the remote site as the body count rises and Tomorrow's three founders struggle to hold onto their trust in each other and the faith with which they first broke ground.
