Living Green

Synopsis:
If you get out, are you obligated to give back? angela and Frank Freeman moved out of the old neighborhood years ago. they've given their children, Dempsey and Carol, great schools and well-manicured lawns while 'living green' in a mostly white Chicago suburb. Trouble is, Frank is worried they may have traded away his children's identity as African Americans in the process. With Carol about to graduate, Frank suggests they move back to the city, and join a few families who are trying to make a difference. angela, however, is too worried about safety. 'thanks,' she says, 'but I like life.' Newly energized with the sense of community generated by the Million Man March, the Freemans take in Shondra, a bright girl from the projects. Can their idealism survive the very real challenges Shondra brings into their home?
