EATRIX CHRISTIAN graduated from the NIDA playwrights studio in 1991. Her first play Spumante Romantica premiered at Griffin Theatre Company the following year. She was an Affiliate Writer and then Writer-in-Residence with the Sydney Theatre Companys New Stages. Her second play Blue Murder was produced at Belvoir Street Theatre in 1994 and Eureka Theatre Company in 1996, and was winner of Best New Play (Sydney Theatre Critics' Circle) and shortlisted for the NSW Premiers Literary Awards. Other playwriting credits include The Governor's Family, Fred and Fausts House. For the Sydney Theatre Company she adapted Ibsen's A Dolls House and Life is a Dream (Calderon), and co-adapted (with Benedict Andrews) Chekhovs Three Sisters. She also wrote the screenplay for Jindabyne

Governor's Family, The

Synopsis:
The Governor's family is a fictitious family in New South Wales in the late 19th century, at a time when a number of white men were facing execution for the rape of an Aboriginal girl. The play reveals the tensions between the Governor and his wife, and their two children - between values of the European past and the new world of the colony. It also reveals the contrast between the Governor's public face and his private life.

Promised Land, The
