Short Gentleman

Synopsis:
Not every crime's committed by a criminal, says Robert Purcell, distinguished barrister, who now works in a charity shop after serving his time in prison. His life changed forever when he did something bad in his family's holiday house in Aldeburgh, a place Robert loves. What was his crime? Why did he do it? His wife has told him to 'open up'. With his disdain for emotional revelation, that's the last thing he wants to do. But this is his chance to prove to the world that he was right to commit his crime. It was a crime any civilised man would have been proud to commit. Robert knows he was right - now it's your turn to agree. A Short Gentleman is a painfully funny one-man show based on the novel by Aldeburgh novelist and scriptwriter Jon Canter, which was serialised on Radio 4, starring Hugh Bonneville as Robert.
