Gorree All-Girl String Band, The

Synopsis:
1930s at the Gorree State Farm in Texas. The inmates hear that a radio station is to do a programme called "Behind The Walls" in which inmates of prisons will get to perform on the radio. A group of them form a band - even though they cannot play any instrument. The one coloured member of the group is not allowed to perform with the white girls. They get onto the show with Hattie Ellis the former black member of the Gorree All-Girl String Band performing as a soloist
