        Black Sequined Bustier

Black Sequined Bustier

Synopsis:
A woman attends a party wearing a black sequined bustier. She is hoping the bustier will lend her the glamour she desires but awkwardness prevails with disastrous (but amusing) consequences. A monologue about social pressure and the thin armour that clothing affords us.

Notes:
In the St Martins Youth Theatre production in 2000, directed by Mathew Lucas, eleven performers played different aspects of the woman's character. Words were repeated, overlapped, whispered and sung for comedic and dramatic effect.
