Rachel is currently under commission to the Old Vic Theatre, Hull Truck, Beebeach Productions and Ed Morris. Her first play the Soldier was critically acclaimed at the Edinburgh Fringe 2004 and transferred to RADA, where it had a sell-out run. She was then selected as one of the writers for the 24 Hour Plays (Old Vic New Voices) in July 2005. Her second play, Night Sky, was commissioned by Index on Censorship. It had a charity gala performance at the Old Vic in November 2005, starring Christopher Eccleston, Saffron Burrows, David Warner, David Baddiel, Navin Chowdhry and Bruno Langley. Rachel has worked as a script consultant on a West End musical, and is also part of the Apathists, the "six hottest young writers around". She has had short plays performed at the Union Theatre, the Old Red Lion, the Arcola Theatre and Theatre 503. Rachel was part of the Core Group at the Soho Theatre in 2005 and the Invitation Group at the Royal Court Theatre in 2006. She has also written for Sky TV's football series Dream Team. She is represented by Meg Davis at MBA.

Birdsong
While staying as the guest of a factory owner in pre-First World War France, Stephen Wraysford embarks on a passionate affair with Isabelle, the wife of his host. the affair changes them both for ever. A few years later Stephen finds himself back in the same part of France, but this time as a soldier at the Battle of the Somme, the bloodiest encounter in British military history. As his men die around him, Stephen turns to his enduring love for Isabelle for the strength to continue and to save something for future generations.
