Notes:

The original play in the Melbourne International Comedy Festival (MICF) runs for approximately one hour and is in one act. It was shortened for an available time-slot in the festival. However, it is also available in the two-act version and is entitled simply: "Silly Old Buggers". All music used is in the public domain (no royalties payable) - G&S, light classical, nursery rhymes, traditional tunes. All suit singers of 'medium' range. Sheet music available.

Synopsis:

Life is for living! That's what this bunch of baby-boomers reckon and that's what they're going to keep on doing until they drop. Sure, they have to deal with stuff: doctors, pensions, wrinkles, pills - you name it - but that's what music and laughter are for, right? Chloris was an opera singer, Paul a truck driver, Martin was a merchant banker and Helen a school principal. Put them together as they arrive at 'a certain age' and you have four silly old buggers determined to have fun. Lots of songs with new lyrics: "If I haven't got a brain, pull the plug"; "I'd much rather dye than be grey"; "Fight for your rights, don't let the bastards win!" No grumpy old people here, just songs and celebration. Website: www.sillyoldbuggers.com.au
