Sarah Shaefer is a playwright and an actor. She was born and raised in Baltimore, Maryland and now lives very happily in Manhattan. Her play The Gin Baby will be produced by Caps Lock Theatre and directed by Daniel Talbott in 2013. She was also commissioned by Evan Cacciopoli to write The Porno Play, which will also be produced in 2013/early 2014. One of her as-of-yet-unwritten plays will be in the Fall/Winter 2013 season of Rising Phoenix Reps Cino Nights series. Her plays Deliver Us Some Email, K-Hole and Five Tiny Little Minutes were all produced by the ESPA Detention Series at the Seventh Street Small Stage. The Queen and the Pawns Ball Sac was produced by Fresh Produced at the Drama Bookshop and also was showcased at the Hudson Valley Shakespeare Festival as well as the Abingdon Theatre Company. Her play The Blow Job Injury was produced by Fresh Produced at the Drama Bookshop and was part of the Core Ensemble reading series at the Barrow Group. Her play Sunk Like A Ship On Fire was a 2012 ESPA*Drills finalist. She also co-produced a celebration of her own work Shitfuck Rip-Ups. Acting work includes the feature film Yelling to the Sky (Berlin International Film Festival) and the feature film Tiger Lily Road . Recent theater credits include Follow (dir. Daniel Talbott), Bring a Weasel and a Pint of Your Own Blood (dir. Jose Zayas) and has participated in workshops at the New York Theatre Workshop, Page 73, LAByrinth Theater Company, New Dramatists, Young Playwrights, Classic Stage Company, Players Club. She is also fluent in German and Spanish and can speak conversational Swiss German.

Gin Baby, The

Synopsis:
A contemporary play about a young alcoholic whose life falls apart after getting sober.

Notes:
From the Author: The play is about what happens after an alcoholic gets sober. The play is brutal and dark, but it should be kept in mind that Amelia is constantly trying to find light or create light in the darkness of her circumstances, meaning, don't forget the funny. She has a wicked sense of humour. One of the pitfalls of this character is to make her into a sob story. She is anything but that.

K-Hole

Synopsis:
In 1797, Coleridge awoke from a restless opium dream and began to write Kubla Khan. A few lines into the poem, he was interrupted by a "person from Porlock". Some people think this was an actual person; others believe it was a fiction created by Coleridge to explain his inability to finish the poem; still others feel it may have been an opium inspired hallucination. I've always found it an interesting fable presenting the fragility of creative momentum. The Challenge to writers: - Write a 5-8 minute scene that springboards from this tale - an interruption of creativity and a right turn into a wildly different direction

Mermaid

Synopsis:
