Playwright Matt Roberts trained in Acting at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama. His one-act plays the Muse, Risk and Treading Water have been staged at the Soho Theatre, the Crucible Theatre Sheffield, Theatre 503, the Pleasance Theatre and the Tristan Bates Theatre. He has been part of the Soho Young Writers Group and is co-founding Artistic Director of new writing company Papatango. Earlier this year, his debut short film Will Sampson (&and the self-perpetuating cycle of unintended abstinence) received its world premiere at Palm Springs Film Festival.

Synopsis:
So what is Phantasmagoria? Is it a form of magic lantern used in seances to project images of ghosts and demons, to terrify and delight the audiences of 18th century France? Well, yes but not in this context. Gravels Phantasmagoria is a collection of three 20 minutes plays. An evening of unparalleled entertainment conceived to give the best emerging talent a platform for their extraordinary and individual ideas that might otherwise never see the light of day, and a chance for you to see theatre where you never have to wait more than 20 minutes for a beer. the three Phantasms that make up this winters Phantasmagoria are: 80 Miles East of Nowhere by Ciaran Dowd, directed by Owen Roberts; Blackpool by Mathew Roberts, directed by Amelia Sears; Soap by Daniel Barker, directed by Elly Hopkins

Muse, The

Synopsis:
You know, some of the greatest artists will never get discovered...because they're too lazy to actually paint anything. Max is a music journalist who loves the 60s. Max is troubled. He has lost his cat, Bruno. The Muse is a dark comedy that follows the journey of a broken man trying to come to terms with the world he has created for himself. Sound Bite

Synopsis:
The day is July 20th 1969. The eagle has landed. In 1 hour, two NASA operatives 'Dick' & 'Mickey' (along with their long suffering secretary 'Janine') will give Neil Armstrong the immortal first words to be spoken from the surface of the moon. There is only 1 problem. . .Writers block!
