An award winning playwright, Jonathan Moore has written eleven stage plays since his play "Treatment" was first performed at The Edinburgh Festival. Subsequent performances have taken place at the Gate theatre, the Donmar, London, and a BBC Film version starring Moore and Gabriel Byrne. This powerful and angrily poetic play was acclaimed as "one of the most disturbing and exhilarating plays in London" (Mark Lawson, The Independent). He has recently finished the second draft of a new play commission. He has written as well for TV, film and the BBC, and several texts for contemporary opera for major British and International Opera Houses. See credits for details. At the beginning of his career, Jonathan was the recipient of an Arts Council Bursary as Writer In Residence at The Albany Empire, the community theatre in Deptford, South East London. He worked with local writers in developing new scripts. Moore's plays have been performed at the Donmar, Gate Theatre, the Almeida (opera text), Royal Exchange, and the Edinburgh Festival. He is the recipient of numerous commissions, including a National Theatre commission. He wrote several episodes of "Crown Court" for Granada TV, "Treatment", a BBC Film, and "Horse Opera" a Western filmed opera shot in Tucson, Arizona for Channel 4 with music by Stewart Copeland. A collection of Moore's plays has been published by Aurora Metro Press. He has most recently finished co-writing "On The Verge", the TV comedy pilot.

Treatment

Treatment
Liam is part of a violent street gang but wants to escape. Encounters with a young woman and a Catholic priest change his life. Trapped between two worlds, he must choose between the dark allure of violence and the healing power of love

Notes:
This play was very well received by audiences and public alike. It is poetic, angry violent, spiritual and ritualistic. It was filmed by BBCtv starring Gabriel Byrne and Moore.
