Jessica Messenger has worked as a career guidance counsellor, children's theatre actor, drama teacher and even on occasion a birthday fairy. With a large involvement in community theatre, her début as a playwright came in 2008 when she directed Rain for Arena Arts and Entertainment Inc, taking out Best Direct at the ITA Dramafest. Rain has since gone on to be short-listed in the 2008 Inscription awards and Jessica has been commissioned to write two more plays for Theatre in Schools projects.

Rain

Synopsis:
Adam can't sleep. It's hot, his bed is uncomfortable and there is a storm brewing. Rain spends the weekend with one teenage boy as he struggles to find meaning in the aftermath of his father's suicide. God is absent, his mum hasn't gotten out of her dressing gown in days and Fey just wants to make him 'feel' better. All Adam really wants is someone to talk to, but when the worst has happened what is there left to say?
