My theatrical writing career includes: 'Quiz Night at the Britannia' (OxFRINGe 2011); 'Dev's army' (Winner Galway Theatre Festival New Writing, 2010; winner 'Forever Manchester award' 2011; Winner 'Buxton New Writing award 2011'; elysion Productions - Manchester, Buxton Fringe, Preston Fringe 2011); 'the Ghosts May Laugh' (produced December 2003 Burton Taylor Theatre, Oxford; august 2004 Greyfriars Kirkhouse, edinburgh); 'the attic' winner of the 2007 Oxford Writers/Oxford Playhouse New Writing Competition (produced September 2007 Burton Taylor Theatre, Oxford); 'Never Tell them' winner of the 2008 Oxford Writers/Oxford Playhouse New Writing Competition 2008 (produced September 2008 Burton Taylor Theatre, Oxford; Oxford Fringe Festival, 24-27th March 2010). I have had three short plays on at the Oxford Playhouse Playbites competitions - 'Leafmould', 'the Intricate Workings of a Sherbet Lemon', and 'an academic's Progress'). the first was also produced by Semper Theatre Company as part of their 'Wonder' competition (Birmingham, 2010) and 'sherbet Lemon' was produced as part of the Off-Cut Festival, Red Lion Theatre, London (2009). I have also one unproduced play 'aynho Turn' (current entry in the Bruntwood Competition).

Dev's Army

Dev's Army
'Dev's army' is a dark comedy set in the latter part of 1940 in the Republic of Ireland. the play takes place entirely in a small hut along the coast to the south of Dublin. This is a base for three members of the Local Security Force (LSF) - the poor man's equivalent of Britain's Home Guard.

Ghosts May Laugh, The

Synopsis:
Confined to a Western Front dug-out during the First World War, four British officers play out a series of ghost stories to while away the time between attacks. What begins as a Christmas eve parlour game becomes a revelation of terrifying memories, as the soldiers challenge each other's responses to the horrors and duties of the war.

A woman on a deserted railway station. Then a man turns up. They get to talking. He tells her of a spate of murders locally the only thing that links each murder is that the victim had recently eaten a lemon sherbet

Quiz Night At the Britannia

Synopsis:
the play is set in the saloon bar of a pub. every Wednesday night a Quiz is held in the back room. It is regularly won by a team called the Faceless Bureaucrats. Tommy, Joe and Berne, the pub's working class regulars, are determined to beat them one day. the pub is run-down. Brenda, the hard-working but tolerant and perceptive manager, is apprehensive about the expected visit by the area Manager. Meanwhile the pub is becoming the regular resort of political advisers attending a Public Inquiry, where another little Drama is unfolding about building contracts, back-handers, politicians and faceless bureaucrats. Interweaving the Quiz, the Inquiry and the characters' lives QUIZ NIGHT aT the BRITaNNIa presents a comic view of life and politics in the 21st century.
