Awkward Conversations with Animals I've F*cked
One-night stands are awkward. One-night stands with animals are more awkward. And when you're as desperate to please as Bobby, things get awkward as f*ck. He's just a guy with too much love to give, and a burning desire to give it to consensual adult mammals

Butcher Of Distinction

Butcher Of Distinction
a murder-suicide forces two orphaned twins out of the rural wilderness they know and into a bleak, brutal London that they don't. But even as they plan their escape, they find themselves locked in a grisly battle with a grieving stranger over their dead father's legacy. Woven with pitch black humour a BUTCHeR OF DISTINCTION combines Joe Orton's wickedest imaginings and Harold Pinter's cynicism on society operating at its most entrepreneurial. Hayes' ability to push the darker side of the imagination to the extreme comes to the fore in this new and provocative piece of theatre.

Step 9 (Of 12)

Step 9 (Of 12)
Keith just wants to say he's sorry. a lifetime of drug and alcohol abuse has given him a lot to apologise for - particularly to the two people who raised from a child. But as the memories of violence, betrayal, lies and recriminations are raked to the surface, it becomes clear that past actions can have shocking repercussions in the present. Forgiving is easy, forgetting is a different story.

This Will End Badly

Synopsis:
Repressed rage; entrenched isolation; compacted bowels. Staring deep into the destructive ego of the modern man, Rob Hayes masterfully dissects the world of relationships, defecating and surviving in this testosterone-triggered tragi-comedy. Collaborating with critically acclaimed director Clive Judd, Hayes injects dark humour, candid observation and arresting imagery to confront our existing understanding of masculinity at blistering pace.

We Will Burn Your Dead

Synopsis:
A road trip in a post-apocalyptic landscape. With Britain devastated by an agricultural virus, a doctor and his daughter navigate a territory of death, decay and fiercely protectionist communities based in fortified housing estates. Burning the dead bodies they find on the way for fuel, their task, survival instincts and relationship are brought to the brink of destruction in the North of England. A play about what could happen, and what we'd do to survive. . .

Notes:
Part of the Royal Exchange Theatre Hodgkiss Award which is the only scheme of its kind in the north that celebrates the unique collaboration between a writer and director. It offers a theatre maker of outstanding promise the chance to direct a new piece of work - by a writer of their choice - in a production fully supported by the Royal Exchange Theatre, Manchester in 2014. And in its inaugural year, the Award received 108 submissions from directors based the length and breadth of the UK and Ireland! We were overwhelmed with the breadth and scope of ideas and the quality of proposals. It makes us feel incredibly excited about the future of new work in our theatres and the ambition and dedication of directors working in a variety of ways across the UK. It was fascinating to see such a range of ideas and for us to really interrogate how we make work for our audiences at the Royal Exchange Theatre.
