Dave Duggan is a dramatist and novelist, writing in English and in Irish. His most recent works are two new stage plays: DENIZEN (CEL, 2015), which toured court-houses and MAKARONIK (Aisling Ghear, 2014), which toured Ireland. He was awarded a Major Arts Award by The Arts Council of Northern Ireland in 2010. Guildhall Press publish his novels, The Greening of Larry Mahon (2004) and A Sudden Sun, (Guildhall Press, 2012). They also published the play text, DENIZEN, in 2014. His film and on-line work includes the Oscar nominated Dance Lexie Dance (Raw Nerve Productions, 1996). His political comedy, Comhairleoiri, went on-line for BBC in 2011. He wrote the pilot episode for Na Deich nAitheanta (Ulysses Films, 2010). He wrote Cu D e (The Abbey Theatre, rehearsed reading, 2009). Other stage plays include Spike Dreams (Playhouse Derry, 2003), Bubbles in the Hot-Tub (Blue Eagle Productions, 2007), Doctor Watt's Squeezebox (Lilliput Theatre Company, 2008) and Gruagairi (Aisling Ghear, 2007) for which he was awarded a Stewart Parker Trust/BBC Award. He wrote seven plays for Sole Purpose Productions between 1996 and 2007, published as Plays in a Peace Process (Guildhall Press, 2008). Included in this collection is AH 6905 (2005), produced in Afghanistan in 2008. Still, The Blackbird Sings (Playhouse Derry, 2010) completed a national tour, including a week's run at The Project, Dublin. He was writer/director on Gerald Donaghey-Unfinished Business, for The Pat Finucane Centre and The Bloody Sunday Trust (2012). He wrote and directed McLaughlins 100, (Bluebell Arts, 2013) a site specific theatre event and film, which was premiered at Foyle Film Festival. In 2013 he wrote A Fare Play for Voices for BBC Radio 4, with Amanda Burton, Bronagh Gallagher and Alan Wright. Other radio dramas include Everyone's Got A Mountain To Climb, for RT E (World Play, 2009), also broadcast by BBC World Service. He adapted his stage play Riders to the Road (after Synge's Riders to the Sea) for RT E radio drama (2011). Dave runs workshop sessions for, among others, the University of Ulster, The Nerve Centre, the British Film Institute and numerous community and writers' groups.
