Amontaine Aurore is the author of five plays, four of which are solo plays. Her solo piece, Free Desiree, was presented at the 2013 New York International Fringe Festival. Another solo play, Queen Rita's Blues Alley, was presented at New York's 59E59 Theater and the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in Scotland. Red Wine on a Red Skirt, a full-length play, has had a staged reading at Seattle's Freehold Theater for their New Play Lab. Amontaine is also an actor, and began her acting career with the Black Arts West Theater Company. She studied acting at the University of Washington and the legendary Loft Studio under Bill Trayler in Los Angeles. She has an undergraduate degree in writing from Antioch University, and has been a writer-in-residence at the Hedgebrook Writer's Retreat for Women on Whidbey Island in Washington State. Amontaine's work has been supported by several artist grants, including the National Endowment of the Arts (NEA), The Puffin Foundation, and the Seattle Mayor's Office of Arts and Cultural Affairs. Amontaine is currently working on a new solo play that is based on her published essay, The Gift of Breath, which is included in the anthology, Sometimes Rhythm, Sometimes Blues: Young African Americans on Love, Sex, Relationships and the Search for Mr. Right.

Synopsis:
Join Desiree and Shauna, two rebel sisters growing up in the '70s as they take on Black pride, the Funky Chicken, Blaxploitation films, and a crisis at the high school. A slammin' 1970s Seattle funk soundtrack accompanies their exploits.
