STEFANIE ZADRAVEC is a resident playwright at New Dramatists and the 2012 Women's Project Lab. Her plays have been produced/developed at The Kennedy Center, PlayPenn, Theater J, The Working Theater, The Women's Project, The Barrow Group, San Francisco Playhouse and New Dramatists among others. Honey Brown Eyes (Theater J, Washington D.C., Working Theater, NYC) received the 2009 Helen Hayes Award for Outstanding New Play and was published in American Theatre magazine. The Electric Baby received the Women in Arts and Media's 2011 Collaboration Award and we premiere this Spring at Quantum Theatre in Pittsburgh. Save Me received the Baltimore Playwrights Festival's Carol Weinberg Outstanding New Play Award as well as the Phoenix Theatre's National Playwriting Award. Stefanie's collaborative work includes The Fear Project (The Barrow Group, NYC), 167 Tongues (Theatre 167, NYC), You Are Now The Owner This Suitcase (Theatre 167, NYC) and the upcoming We Play for the Gods (The Women's Project, NYC). Synopsis:

167 Tongues explores the emotional geography of Jackson Heights, the most culturally diverse neighborhood in the world. Intermittent street scenes weave together alongside continuous stories in this 37-character play. An Indian sweet shop vendor struggles to keep her store going and her suitors at bay, a Nepali woman and a Mexican man fall in love across a linguistic divide, an Irish ghost befriends an troubled Ecuadorian girl and her Bangladeshi best friend, a Dominican manicurist wonders whether her Jewish Chinese boyfriend will propose before she is deported by the INS, and a Rwandan night nurse attempts to understand the 167 distinct languages spoken in the local Emergency Room. This theatrical experience combines street scenes with continuous narratives, found sounds, and movement in an exploration of Jackson Heights, Queens, the most diverse neighborhood in the world.
