Notes: Book by Tim Wright, Music and Lyrics by Justin Sepple and Charlotte Sayers. This is a full-length musical based on the stage play "Garland: An Unofficial Biography" by Tim Wright (also published by Stage One Publications).
Synopsis: Bright, lively and catchy Broadway-like songs highlight this musical extravaganza, which tells the "backstage" story of Judy Garland's rise to superstardom. As memorable as "Gypsy," this splashy, glitzy two-act musical also has a tender side, as Judy continues to search for love amid the fame. Told in rapid-fire sequences with brisk, snappy show-biz dialogue as if from a 1930s MGM movie, the story spans ten years of her life, from 1929s vaudeville to 1939s "The Wizard of Oz". This new musical comedy-drama-biography of one of the greatest entertainers of all time features very strong female roles, including Ethel Gumm (Judy's overbearing stage mother), Constance Beard (40's to 50's, who runs the Beard Theatrical Agency, where Judy began), Judy's sisters (Virginia and Mary Jane) and three actresses who play Garland at different ages in her life (Little Babe, age 6, Babe ages 13 to 16 and Judy, late 40's). Based on the non-musical GARLAND, also by Tim Wright, the lyric and composing team of Justin Sepple/ Ch

Synopsis: As the curtain rises, we are in London's Palladium Theatre in 1967, as Miss Judy Garland takes the stage for her one-woman concert. However, as she speaks to the audience, the entertainer drifts back in time to the Beard Children's Agency in 1929, where her career began. Through nostalgic and poignant flashbacks, Garland recalls her mother Ethel Gumm (the "stage mother of all stage mothers"), who wouldn't take no for an answer as she pushed little Francis Gumm (Judy's real name) and her sisters into show business as "The Gumm Sisters." Told in rapid-fire sequences with brisk, snappy show-biz dialogue as if from a 1930s MGM movie, the story spans ten years of her life, from 1929s vaudeville to 1939s "The Wizard of Oz." Along the way, Judy loses her father, meets life-long soulmate and child-actor Joseph Yule (before he was Mickey Rooney), becomes a solo act, sings with Al Jolson and finds herself at Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer working for Louis B. Mayer and Mervyn LeRoy. To hear Judy tell it, amid all the hype, h
